Why Nutrition Matters
Malnutrition doesn’t only stunt a child’s body, it affects their brain, their future, and the wellbeing of entire communities.
By the age of two, nearly 80% of a child’s brain is developed. Any damage caused by poor nutrition during this critical period can be irreversible, affecting learning ability, health, and productivity for life.
But there is hope.
With the right nutrition in the first 1,000 days from pregnancy to a child’s second birthday—we can completely change this story. We can build stronger children, healthier families, and more resilient communities.
Who We Are
AfiaNest (Afya Moms & Tots) is a refugee-led social enterprise in Uganda dedicated to fighting and preventing malnutrition among mothers and children.

A Story of Change – Berny
Berny, now 2 years old, used to fall sick frequently. She had low energy and was constantly in and out of the hospital.
After starting Wise Baby Porridge, everything changed.
Within just one month:
- Her energy levels improved
- She became more active
- Her immunity strengthened
Her mother also joined our nutrition training sessions, learning how to better plan meals and care for her child.
Today, Berny is healthier, stronger, and thriving.
